This approach at Tegucigalpa, Honduras is one of the most challenging in American Airlines system.

Look how close the aircraft comes to the mountain. Then, look at how much of the runway it uses and what the crosswinds do (actually the pilot is 'slipping' to lose altitude, the smoke is stationary). In addition the runway is only 5,800 feet long and has a 1% down slope with a cliff at the end! Daylight VFR only.

  • Kai Tak rather, CLK is it's replacement. Brain fart.

  • The plane seems almost alive...

With the 757, not really. Faro comes to mind, along with a handful of LAM/SAM airports. I'm sure there are others, but the best, Chek Lap Kok, is gone. Every body wants straight-in-10-mile finals.

  • there is more challenging?

  • its grnd proximity warning must be cracking up inside the cockpit (not unless if pilots disarmed it)

  • One of the worst airports on the planet, and they have to get a crosswind too? Nice flying!

  • @Virginityrocks I'd rather have too much speed than not enough lol.

  • Remarkable! Wouldn't want to try that on autoland...

  • Looks like an overspeed landing, but still, gg.
