  • I'm kind of annoyed when people say "Oh well Rory waited 2000 years and Amy only waited 36". Rory CHOSE to wait for Amy. He knew what he was getting in to. He WANTED to wait all that time. Amy, on the other hand, did not. It's not at all fair to Amy to compare the two situations.

  • Yes, Rory waited 2000 years, but he known that the doctor would be back, he known that he should waited it as like his " mission " . But amy, didn't know if the doctor would be back or not.. So it's different

  • Hmm, haven't watch all of this episode but it really makes me respect Rory more because sometimes Amy and Doctor's attitude towards him is just to brush him off. He's really a greater person than that and can realize things that the other two may not consider because they're more mercurial and action-based.

  • @EbonyHood That doesn't mean Rory doesn't remember, just because time was rewritten. Eye of the storm, and all.

  • @wordsofjed, Wasn't that because time was rewritten after the pandorica went into the exploding sun?

  • @andyot7777 It's not fair to compare their waiting times because their circumstances were different.

Rory was on a world he knew he would definitely survive on because he knew what to avoid and when.

He could interact with other people. He could survive.

Amy was trapped in a strange world a minute after she got there and spent 36 years avoiding robots that would kill her, with no social interaction with ANYTHING for 36 years beyond a disarmed handbot, which couldn't talk nor comfort her.

  • There's a major difference between Rory having killed Amy, feeling responsible and waiting 1894 years for her to Amy's 36 years. Rory could have gone with the Doctor and not waited at all, would have just shown up and Amy WOULD have been fine, inside the Pandorica. But he CHOSE to stay because he felt responsible. And he was on a world he knew he could survive on. Whereas Amy was stranded for 36 years, being hunted by handbots, all the while knowing the Doctor had a machine that could save her.

  • I would point out that the big difference between Rory waiting 2000 years vs Amy waiting nearly 4 decades is the fact Amy had no hope in her that she would be with Rory...as Rory was waiting for the day that Amy would come out of the Pandorica.

  • It was "The Army of Ghosts"

  • @wordsofjed 36 years.

  • The story about the mice was my favorite I would read it all the time. That is such a great analogy for the episode.
