piagets stages are not perfect science, don't kid yourself.
These kids CAN understand these concepts, but they need to have them explained. For example, if the first lady poured the water back into the other cup and said "see, look, it is actually the same amount, isn't that cool?" than the little girl would've understood
its not that they are unable to comprehend the information, it is just that their brains use the most readily available information first (size and shape in most cases)

@DAYTIME504 They put different age groups for comparison. The second girl, in my opinion, is at least one year older based on her language development and lack of baby fat. I don't think it has anything to do with ethnicity.

@TwiggehLeaf so why did they put two different age groups in the same video? and how can you even tell wat ages they are in the first place? why not show different videos for each stage of growth?
heres wat i think....all the girls in that video are the same age....and most people cant stand that children of color can actually develop faster so they want to say that the black child is much older XD

I think it's fascinating at 0:49 how in her mind, she knows what's going on, but still struggles wording her thoughts coherently. The last little girl is so cute!

if you don't understand how these children can't understand then maybe you should take some more psychology classes. their young brains CAN'T understand it! read more piaget please. every human goes through this, you just probably can't remember. they're still learning about the world, for all they know it's entirely possible for the tallness of the glass to indicate more water. it's why small children are into magic, because they believe in the magic. to them, magic is entirely possible
