Testing paintball body armour,Mahlwinkel Big Game, May 2009

We met this Dutch paintball group from Hoorn who were testing the protection of one of their team mates. That evening he was participating in a parcours event where the marshalls would shoot at all the players, and he wanted to make sure that his protection was effective against their shots (you couldn't get eliminated during that parcours, the trick was to speed through it taking as few hits as possible). One of his buddies obliged, after which some of our mates arrived with their own markers to test his protection out. See for yourself how well it worked. :-)

I filmed this video, but I also sent a copy of it to the "target". He also put it on youtube, so you might encounter this clip more than once.

what armour is it?

@KieraArielle He doesn't have any specific armour. He was wearing only his normal paintball (speedball) gear, with several layers of normal clothing underneath to dampen the impact.

How does that guy protect his NUTS?!!! i got slide shorts and crotch padded pants and it still doesn't feel too nice to get hit there... tried all kind of judo/athletic cups but they're all so uncomfortable... can't crouch wearing that crap.. perhaps the RAP4 groin protector??

@DjAussieWHUS I think that he was wearing a groin protector, because when he was hit he didn't even notice it: He asked the shooters to shoot him in the crotch to test his protection there, despite the fact that they had already hit him several times in that exact spot. :-)

@NoShaDow36 No doubt about it! My guess is that we had temperatures around 85 to 90 F that day. But rather him than me: I'll take the hits over the being stewed alive option. :-)
