The Conklin Barn, Huntington, NY. CHRISTINE COOPER grew up in wild West Wales where the sea eats the land inch by inch. She collects and pieces together dusty fragments of stories and melodies, poetry and song, to create jigsaw-worlds of fragile beauty. Winner of several awards for her fiddle playing, Christine has worked with respected Welsh group Fernhill since 2004, with whom she has toured internationally. As a solo performer, Christine uses live loops and voice to gently blow away the thin layer of dust that has settled over old folk songs, handling the delicate fabric of the music with care and creativity. This will be her second trip to the US, after her 2009 performance at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival on the Mall in Washington DC.
