This was a music video that I made for my filmmaking class back in 2006 in high school. It was uploaded onto YouTube back then, but since then the music was silenced by WMG. I have now re-uploaded the video for your viewing pleasure, and hopefully this will not get silenced again. I hope everyone that has seen this video before will revisit it in a new light. Thanks to everyone that supported and made my original video such a worthwhile success and got me inspired to go into filmmaking in the first place.
This is my own version of the music video for P.O.D.'s "Youth of the Nation": A student remembers himself and his friends of the past and how their lives have gone downhill since he remembered them back when they were younger. Hope you enjoy it.
Technical Details:
To many people's surprise, this film was edited on Windows Movie Maker through hours of frustration. WMM is not too shabby a program, however it excludes many features that a more professional program would have.
Also, this was shot on an older JVC camcorder. I would tell you the model number, but we no longer have the camera.
Note to viewers:
If you either like it, hate it, or whatever with this video, then by all means say what you have to say, but please do not go and say "He shouldn't be wearing a plaid shirt," or "That (prop) sucks." Please try to keep all personal criticisms to yourself as this was not the overall intention of the video. Anything other than constructive criticism will just be ignored and/or deleted.
FAQ's
Q: You do know a gat is a gun right? He shouldn't have fallen into a pool.
A: I know a gat is a gun. I'm not stupid. Look at this music video for its cinematic approach and NOT the exact lyrics. Don't point out the obvious - I will just ignore your comment.
Q: What grade did you get on this?
A: Everyone has been asking what kind of grade I got on this film. Not to be cocky, but let's just say my film teacher now uses it every year to show his students how to make a good first music video.
Q: Was the gun for real or not?
A: Depends what you mean by "real." It's a BB Gun that shoots pellets.
