This is the first of 4 videos meant to display the method of data transmission laid out to me by several important people in the TI community. I use the "MFM" program on the TI to simulate a BBS-type remote link. On the PC, I use a program called QModem Pro which I downloaded from thekeep.net. If the baud rates, parity, bit rates, etc are the same and your equipment is functioning properly, you should be able to duplicate this transfer pretty easily. Next video I will show you what to do with a TIFILE once you transfer it to your PC!!!

  • Nice VId!! Great to see you keeping the TI alive. It's making me want to get mine down from the attic. Is MFM a program you get with the drive and is it in extended basic or something?

  • MFM was sent to me by a good friend named Ernie Pergrem. He has a video on YouTube of a TI hooking up to "the internet." Pretty cool. Type in "The Hidden Reef" in the YouTube search engine. IT's a trip. But MFM is an Extended Basic Autoload program. Basically creates a mini BBS terminal and allows a Terminal emulator program on the PC to link up to it. I've got about 15 TI99 videos... about to make a few more as well. Thanks for checking it out.

  • I'm still stunned at the roar of that fan on the PEB!

  • Yea..it seems louder than it actually is... My camera mic was pointed directly into the line of fire--- but I WOULD love to replace the fan somehow for a quieter one.

  • You know what I find amazing about this as a system admin... that Cisco Routers and the way you set them up are done exactly the same way you interface with the TI-994a... serial to USB cables. Basically, you can download config files from routers that way, using X-modem.

  • I bought a TI-99 4/A which came with over 40 game carts. It turns out two of those carts are really rare, rare enough that there is no rom version of it that I can download. One of the games made by Tigervision plugs into the expansion port instead of the cartridge port. Is it possible to make a rom of these games?

  • hey man... this video is excellent. I am going to try this out! How do I get MFM?
