  • How do you carry your ink? You did not have a loaded brush with ink in it. Do you carry liquid ink for plein air or do you grind it with ink stone?

  • @jasneskis As seen in this video, I used Japanese sumi colored ink cakes, which is available at our online store. I carry my ink bottle in the car, so I can refill my brush pens if needed. One of my friend in China who likes to carry inkstick and inkstone for plein air because it is less messy then liquid ink. I would use a toothbrush case to store the brush pens with ink. Thanks for your question!

  • Hi,

    Like you work!

    It's so fresh.

What kind, brand of brush are you using? Where can I find this kind of brush. I like that is a big size too.

    here in the northeast

where snow is never a stranger

  • The mica white powder is for Gongbi(elaborated) style painting.I would just use Chinese White in the watercolor or quache tube.

  • @bbornets I guess that was Gefen (蛤粉). You need to mixed with glue water. Use brush handle to stur it to form a dough ball, then placed in the palm. use both hands to forcefully twist to shape like a strip. and then back to a ball, repeated 4-5 times. when you use, add the right amount of light glue water. Fingers grinding out the amount used, an put into another dish, then add glue to grind again.

  • Eshed asked:

    >What do you write up/under the seal at the calligraphy work?

Right bbove the seal is my signature in my artist pen name, 既已樓主. It just like a "username" these days. It's written in so called grass style.

    Henry

  • Dear Henry, In SF Chinatown, I have bought some Chinese white powder paint with yellow crystals in a separate bag. How do I mix them and in what proportion? Thanks. Barbara

  • That was fun - I enjoyed the video of the road trip as well as the painting.
