In which Abby Franquemont demonstrates plying 2-ply yarn with a flyer spinning wheel, using a lazy kate. You'll most likely want to look at related articles at http://abbysyarns.com/ to get the most out of this video.

  • Great vid, can't wait til the second part.

For curiosity's sake: what type of wheel is that? The flyer and bobbins look like majacraft but I don't think they make saxony wheels.

  • Thank you! As it happens, the wheel is a Majacraft Saxonie -- they're recently discontinued.

  • Love learning "how stuff is made" in general. So, this series of videos is awesome. Love the "drink a beer" quote!

  • Is there a part two?

  • Can you possibly make a video for plying without a wheel?

  • So . How are you creating a balanced ? Or does it matter toyou?

  • do i have to ply my yarn after i spin it? how long should i let it sit before i use my yarn to let the twist stay?

  • Once you have plied your yarn, how do you know if the yarn is now ready for knitting up? Will it kink up or twist while you are knitting? Or will it stay calm as you knit?

  • Thanks for sharing and now I'm off to my wheel!
