My climb up Mt Elbert on 6/24/08.

Enjoy the views as I take you on my climb from Elbert Creek Campground to the summit of Mt Elbert at 14,433 feet, the highest mountain in Colorado.

I started out at 5:30AM and got to the summit just before 10:00AM.

Sorry about the darker portions in the first part of this movie, as I initially didn't have much light to work with. My DV-CAM wasn't the greatest either.

  • Not bad at all. I remember Halfmoon Road being quite smooth to Elbert's trailhead, and staying smooth to the trailhead of Mt Massive. I think it started to get rough after Massive's trailhead though, so much that a normal sedan would never make it past a few hundred yards or so.

  • how was the drive to the enterance to the trail?

  • Thanks for putting this video together. I used it recently in my planning. Also, since I don't have a video this is a good video documentation of my own climb!! How can I get a copy??

  • Those furry animals next to the trail are marmots. And there are 3 or 4 false summits before topping out. He mentioned that there are few if any switchbacks on the summit trail.

It's an awesome hike but be in shape.

  • nice video..thks for sharing!
