Sveta is narcissistic to the point of being pathological. If I was ever good enough to get in a gym with her I would've pooped in her gym bag.

I think it was a huge pity Alina Kozich blew her chance, she was such a beautiful, stylish gymnast that made Carly Patterson look style free and her floor look hideous.

Usually My attitude since watching the olympics for the first in 1996, Is I'm going for the USA, but If they can't pull It off I always hoped that the one that could, would be the Romanians.

Khorkina should have won gold in Sydney! Other wise she would not have been in Athens! But what makes it sad is that the vault she fell on is the vault she started here. Yet the vault ITSELF has change! In more ways than one! Not her!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gotcha ~ sorry my bad. I thought you were on the bandwagon saying she didn't deserve to win. I agree she was not the most artistic gymnast out there.

Did I even mention she didn't deserve to win? My argument is based on the lack of artistry from her gymnastics. She had all the skills, but her dance and beam artistry were lacking. That's not to say she wasn't good. She made her gymnastics look WAY too easy.

I am not a huge Carly fan, but you are just not giving her enough credit. She brought in a new style of gymnastics that many people may not care for, but in what she was good at she excelled. They don't give medals for longevity unfortunately. By 2004 Khorkina was emaciated in her attempts to stay competitive, and frankly I don't think she should have been allowed to compete.
I wish Pavlova had medalled. Talk about a great gymnast who was always in contention but never quite made it.

Carly was clearly the best the day, and it was not a surprise. She was a favorite going in. Sveta was lucky for silver and largely overscored.
