Jason Newstead was kicked out because he did not share the same level of arrogance and invinicibility as Lars and James. Jason was just an ordinary man with a big heart. He knew that he was not as good as Cliff and did his best just to give Cliff a "dignified" substitute. And because he did not wish to superseed Cliff he was told to walk the plank. This shows disloyalty on behalf of the original members of Metallica just like the shafting they gave to Dave Mustaine. Shame on you Lars and James !
