This event occurred when a 500-kV line connecting Arizona with San Diego tripped following a capacitor switchout. Approximately 1.4 million people were affected.
@zassounotsukushi There did not appear to be any islanding with this particular event (which is still being investigated), so the entire WECC region remained synchronous (time delays excluded). It will be interesting to know exactly what happened when the final report comes out.
So, if I can eyeball the integration correctly, it would seem that the integral of both the low period from about 22:38:00 to 22:38:20 and the following high frequency peak both equal out to around 0.5 to 1 full cycle. Is this a transient during which synchronicity is maintained with other systems on a different, steady, frequency?
