...also, it'd be interesting to see what Kirk would do on a solo album...I wanna see what is in Kirk's brain..as far as styling, song writing, etc..dude is great with the band..but, I'd like to hear what Kirk has to say...or play..or do..or...

I completley forgot that I commented on this haha! The reason Astrud was successful is simple - she had charm. Her voice isn't good, thats a fact, but she has charm and grace and doesn't let her voice hold her back . She also fufills her function in her music, nothing too showy or anything because she doesn't need to be. Its the same with James and Metallica in general, James doesn't need to sound like Dio or Bruce Dickinson, his voice works for Metallica.

@Popeh WOW! You amaze me. Even though your comment dates back 3 years, you're the first I read to dare say that Astrud Gilberto is not the world's best singer. I agree, and that's why I'd prefer Elis Regina - any day! It's HER who should have gotten the wealth and recognition, not Astrud! If I remember correctly, João Gilberto "just" took his wife into the studio, and "tried around" something musical with her, and then deemed her to be a good singer. Hell yeah, each husband would say that. :P
