Hi Bellas,

I'm back with another video and I think it's going to help out a lot of you. I actually filmed it last summer, lol, but it's definitely still worth watching.

I'm really into depotting and using palettes to hold my eyeshadows. In this video I help give you tips on how to depot and if you have a problem getting your depotted shadows stick to magnetic palettes like your z-palette, this is for you!

Z-palettes are not like metal MAC palettes...as a result you can't just slap a magnet on the back and expect it to stick. Instead I show you how to use steel to make it stick!

Check out my video highlights:
0:40 Definition of depotting
1:13 Examples of depotted products
2:02 Depotting Disaster Experience
3:25 Flat Iron Method of Depotting
4:06 All about the Z-Palette - what depotted products will stick and what won't
7:20 Use Goof-Off to Remove sticky adhesive from the back of pans after you de-pot
8:22 What do you do if you have a shadow that doesn't stick? You need something that is metal that will stick to the magnetic z-palette
9:32 Use steel-plated tin sheets from the craft store
10:48 Use adhesive dots from Michaels
11:22 How to place steel onto the pack of the depotted shadow
13:22 Examples of successfully depotted shadows where this steel method worked

  • Great video! And yes, this is as exciting for us as it is for you :) Oh and did you know that if you order the Z Palette directly from zpalette.com they include 20pcs of their own metal stickers?! They are 26mm in diameter and easy to use, you just peel off the backing and stick it on to your depoted shadows. They also sell them in packs of 30pcs for $5. I thought since you're planning on getting some more palettes anyway you might want to know.

  • @nandycapetillo thanks nandy! that would be super convenient for round shadows :)

  • Do you put the sticker of the shadow name on the back of all your shadows? I have tried before and most times the sticker breaks

  • @SilAndreAM i used to do that when i cared about the names but not anymore

  • This is putting me in a depotting mood!

  • @sokolum79 i tell yah when i get in the mood to depot i can do dozens lol...but that's rare that i'm in the mood

  • Repotting video would be great! I'm baffled by Nars. :)

  • Ok...those blushes from the MakeUp Show are from who??

  • Ren Ren I am looking for makeup that is good quality but doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Do you have any suggestions? I would really like to get some makeup pallets.

  • thank u so much for this I went home yesterday a depotted all my loose Mac eyeshadows and place them in my palettes! ur the best!

  • For the life of me, I cannot depot NARS without breaking them - I have the hardest time trying to heat the glue on the bottom of the pan; there's like an airspace between the compact and the pan. Any tips?

  • I hate the Z palette. It's too heavy and I don't like the fact it's paper. I put in Mac shadows and Mac blush in and they fell out. I ruined a brand new blush. The Z palette is very weak magnet. It's expensive and to me it doesn't work.

  • How much are the Z palettes?

  • Hey Ren do the depotting vifeo

  • does the plastic ever melt and stick to the iron? =O

  • great video! i love all of your videos though :)
