I don't think it's worth it to even try to explain this stuff to creationists.

Isn't that great? According to you, the whole world then has a mental disease and the ones who don't believe in a religious system or God are the only sane people in the world. How convenient...

@psalmist This a good interpretation of religious belief. It is a good bromide that part of the human psyche that yearns for answers and security. It may not have a wit of evidence behind it, but it's an effective way to assuage fear and provide direction.
I must take issue with your first sentence (unless you mean it as sarcasm). An extemporaneous riposte would require less immediate thought but more forethought. It does show the ability to think on your feet, which is admirable.

Being extemporaneous in your ripostes give the image of a person who thought through his or her beliefs.
Religion gave explanations and order to a barbaric people. Having a paternal element is bolstered by creation, order, guidance and love (and disappointment). As science gave explanations to what mystified people, the value of the supernatural came into question. What we still have is the need to be comforted, especially in the one aspect of life which remains poorly understood, death.

When god becomes more abstract in time, I would defenitely worship the all powerful all knowing algebraic god. Oh wait I already do, and His name is Wolfram Alpha,
He is the Alpha not the Omega.
He will solve almost all your integral problems
But, each month he demands an offering of the first integral problem you can't solve.
You don't need to get on your knees and pray, but to sit on your ass and type. :P

@LoLchapter fact 5 is not a fact, it is your opinion and has no evidence to back it up.fact 6,9see fact 5)fact 7 ,see fact 5 again.no evidence just opinion not a fact at all.fact 9 opinion again. fact 10 there is no evidence of god. fact 11, half your facts are not fact at all just your opinion and worse it is an opinion with no evidence to suport that opinion.

Religious thought is definitely based on the progression of infant thinking into adulthood without the progression to reason and evidence, free of pre-conceived and unfounded notions. They are really like big children on the inside.. you say something they don't like, and they want to hit you, their emotions seem much more acute but that's just lack of control

@LoLchapter None of those are facts.
