This is a DIY glockenspiel playing robot controlled by an Arduino. The idea behind the design was to produce something simple and cheap that plays 'like a human'.
Depending on the tune, it can go pretty fast, although the inertia ratio for the central servo is probably way over what it should be, and large jumps don't always hit their target exactly.
I've previously attempted a 'one-solenoid-per-key' version, but found it too difficult to get consistent volume with home-made solenoids.
