Zhengwen (曾文水庫) Reservoir, Tainan, 11/28/2011

Zhengwen aka Tsengwen Reservoir is located upstream of Tsengwen Creek. The main function of the reservoir is to fully uti lize the water resource of Tsengwen Creek for the improvement and expansion of the irrigation of Chianan Area.
The reservoir is also used for hydraulic power generation, water supply, and flood prevention after completion.

The construction of the reservoir began in 1967 and was completed in 1973, which was one of the major national infrastructures. After storing enough water to form a lake in the reservoir, the sparsely visited area with high mountains was turned into a huge green lake reflecting the surrounding bushy mountain. In order to share the beautiful natural landscape and abundant nature ecological resources with the public , the reservoir has been opened for tourism since July 1974.
