@tailsjedi If the payload is within certain constraints, it doesn't need FAA an license.

@steamfire Well, it kinda looked like space it me. But I guess that's why the camera was able to fall back down to earth. Did you have to get approval to do this? FAA application or something?

@tailsjedi This is not in space, so no need to be sad for broken laws of physics. This is still completely within the Earth's atmosphere. The term that so many amateurs use, "near-space" is misleading in this respect.
The FAI defines the edge of space as 100km, for astronaut record purposes, and weather balloons are far less than half that high. This balloon burst at around 28km high.
