El cantautor francés Gilbert Bécaud (1927-2001) y Neil Diamond colaboraron entre fines de los 70´s y principios de los 80's del siglo XX. De esa obra conjunta florecieron canciones como: "C'est la Vie", "Faithful Man", "Falling", "Hey Louise", "Love on the Rocks", "Mama don't know", "On the Robert E. Lee", "Rainy day song", "Scotch on the Rocks", "September Morn", "Songs of Life", y "Summerlove". Algunas de esas canciones fueron para la banda sonora de "The Jazz Singer" (1980), de donde emerge esta canción. La letra en inglés esta aquí abajo:

Hey Louise (1980)

Hey, my Louise
If I take you home
Will you make me plead?

My sweet amour
If I come too close
Will you close the door?

Oh, Mon Cherie
Do you know my name?
I remember yours
And I know what you need
What you need, my Louise

Hey, my Louise
I can stand the heat
But don't let me freeze

Merci beaucoup
Its a natural thing
When it's me and you

Oh, Mon Cherie
Do you know my name?
I remember yours
And I know what you need
What you need, my Louise
...
Oh, Mon Cherie
Do you know my name?
I remember yours
And I know what you need
What you need, my Louise

Need
What you need, my Louise
What you need, my Louise

  • OH thank you for posting this! It's one of my favs from Jazz Singer -- oh, to watch him move while he performs this. rooowwr!

  • This is one of the highlights of the movie for me, with Neil singing this one, he has such a way of getting a crowd hyped. I was a little girl, in Detroit, watching The Jazz Singer for the first time on, "ON" Tv in 1980. We all had to share the family tv, and this movie always brings back memories for me, of a sweeter time. Neil was also, one of my first crushes, when I was 10. Ha.

  • Good Tune!!!!

  • Doesn't it remember Blitzkrieg Bop?

  • Saw Neil in concert in London last month (7-13-11) and he still has 'it' at 70 yrs young!! Oh that voice!!

Now I'm hyped on Neil all over again and had to watch The Jazz Singer...it's been years since I've watched that movie!...so good, so good, so good!!

  • One of his greatest songs. A powerful voice and a great entertainer.

  • How beautiful! Thanks for posting this. I remember watching this movie in an airplane during a loooooong flight from the other side of the world (Asia). This song brings back great memories of that time (summer 1981)!

  • My eldest daughter is called Louise after her mum and I went to see The Jazz Singer for the first time in 1980.......we reckon she was conceived later that night at home but we didn't really want to call her ' Empire Leicester Square' or 'Surbiton' ......where we lived. I reckon had she been a boy we'd have called him Neil!

  • Thank you, Mr, from Gilbert Bécaud. Few people knows some collaborations. They know one song, one singer, or they prefer one perfomance.

For the movies, there is the same problem. They know one movie, one actor ....

    Nice job, Mr. *****

  • Always loved this song--it's my fave from the movie

  • Thank you..wonderful song and rhythm, Christine
