  • Does anyone know if aerospatiale fixed their not-so-good icy system? Sadly a few ATR's were lost 'cause they inefficient Anti-Ice System.

  • yes indeed,,,,,

ATR has made many changes in design and procedures to deal with the icing issues

they put a lot of stress on ICING avoidence training its ICING SAFE as long as the CORRECT procedure is followed,

  • I love ATR! The best planes around the earth!

  • who wants to fly in a ice cone

  • hmmmmm, green aircraft eh........but its white!

  • the flying couffin...never fly in this thing... prone to ice up and kill you

  • in hmm. 10 hours i got a flight with a Atr-72 from Bangkok Airways, does anyone know how old the planes are? :O im afraid of turbo props...

  • @budgerigarz I don't know, but I would guess bleed air, since the wing leading edges are painted in light color. De-icing boots are mostly used on smaller turboprop aircraft, since it requires less bleed air = less performance loss.

  • @mnor1960 Do you know if the A400M has de-icing boots or a bleed air system like on jets?

  • @budgerigarz I like turboprops: they're slow but gentler on the environment. Jets are only meant to be used for long-distance international flights.

  • What's with the girl??? Is this sex appeal or an aircraft ad?

  • @joe9320 Yeah. The C-295 and the A400M too.
