In defense of them not getting better musically, there latest incorporates so many different sounds, instruments, environments, moods, themes. I mean they may never be able to create something as beautiful as Leitmotif or El Cielo, but that does not mean that they can't create something beautiful again.

I noticed that too. But I think it's perfectly natural that his voice changed. It happens with a lot of singers though not always for the same reason.

Chris Martin got training I believe after the band had to cancel so many shows in their early days because his voice had failed.

And Brandon Boyd just one day figured out how to sing (and not shout) ... at least that's what I read in an interview.

I don't know whether Gavin had training, but I suppose extensive touring is as good a coach as any.

They might never do better musically (though I haven't despaired of that yet), but I think performance-wise they have grown so much over the years.

Gavin's voice does sound a bit off in this video... it's unfortunate because it's good quality sound and video otherwise.
