  • Nice. I'd give this five stars if the ratings weren't disabled. I have a 1971 model, and there are holes in the exhaust so it doesn't sound quite as deep as yours and I've got a 5 speed conversion in it. The only thing I miss is the whiny gears that I hear in this video. Then there is the lovely sound of the fuel pump that I can hear through the whole video. I think the only sound you didn't record was the sound of the door catch. Great job!

  • Nice video. Thanks. I guess the whine I have in first gear is a "feature", not a "defect".

  • Thank goodness this car was made before politcal correctness came in to being. If this same car was made to today, it'd be called the MG Little Person. I grew up with MG As, Bs, and Triumphs and Sunbeams, Healeys, but never a Midget. I was always rather afraid of the midget because of its tiny tiny size.

  • Wow. Great idea to video this. Just like I remember -- before my turn signal went out and I parked it, and then over the winter the brake cylinders leaked out sometime later the back tire went flat and then the economy died and I had no more spare cash to fix things. Oh well, someday... But in the meantime, At least I can watch and listen to this video -- it's perfect!

  • Seriously? I fixed a 71 Midget that was broke and not running DOA one night, got it running, and the next day drove it from Chicago to Georgia and back again. You guys need to get out of your back yard. I thought I got such great mileage in it on the interstate (probably 35mpg) but the 1985 Honda Rebel I have today smokes it at 85mpg. I have more leg room, and its more fun to drive, and easier to work on because all the parts are 'right there', and no British crap engineering.

  • we had one when i was a little boy

  • my dad has an mg but his is much more americanized he made the dash out of wood and the center were the shifter is out of wood but new gauges in and a 350 chevy in it its nice

  • Whiney first gear and the fuel pump clicking AH i love british cars :) I have a 79 MGB :)

  • Neutral to Second gear 4 going to First, I love it! Thanks for sharing TakingTheHighRoad. I do that even now out of habit in a modern car and people wonder why. I tell them they'll never understand.

Now my 5 year old Nephew wants my MG Midget when he grows up. So I promised him I would.

  • I always hated the first gear whine

  • i always hated that whiney first gear.
