In this video I show you how to identify whether you have a diastasis recti or recti split which is a separation of the abdominal muscles cause by a weakened pelvic floor. This can occur in men and women. To see what a diastasis recti looks like, please click here to go to my video: http://youtu.be/Tn6g8VFD8Kw
Women who are planning to get pregnant or who have had a child should be aware of this before they begin any ab workout. This video will help you get your abdominals back into shape by strengthening your internal abdominal muscles or transverse abdominis; it's the body's most important core stabilizer and is responsible for re-flattening the abdominal wall after pregnancy.. Please remember to subscribe because I have so much more to come; something helpful and of interest to everyone. Thanks so much for viewing!

  • Hii im comfused is it when you put fingers on the line on your tummy is it if you feel a gap

Cause i can only put on finger in the gap

  • @serisharoxursoxoff Hi, one finger is great. Yes you place your finger horizontally across the line on our tummy as you contract up off the floor as I show in the video.

  • thank you very much for your answer and time, i would like to know if you think that with this exercises that you show it will be enough to heal the diastasis recti .

or do you have some more for the transverse abs ? i saw other videos but i dont know if they are right to do .

  • @urugujose Hi, I chose these exercises because they are the most effective. I'm sure there may be others out there that people do as well. These exercises will help to close it, but remember it does take time so don't expect that to happen over night. I still do them and I had my children years ago and my stomach is in great shape. They are wonderful exercises and I want to maintain the strength of my pelvic floor.

  • thank you very much for this information, i had a baby 3 months ago and nobody told me about diastasis recti, i found it myself . i am practicing your exercises, since i had a c section i started this week.

i found out that i have 3 fingers apart around my navel, in your experience do people heal of diastasis recti ? and in my particular case since i started after 3 months do you think i can heal it ? thank you very much for your video and info .

  • @urugujose A great time to do your kegels is when you are feeding your baby :o)

  • hi , i have been doing this exercises everyday for 2 months already, but i still have the same separation which is 3 fingers.

in your experience can it take longer to heal ? i feel better though, but the way i look is the same,,, i know everybody is different , but do you have any idea about time frame ?

  • This was so helpful. I've been trying to correct my diastasis recti for the past 9 months after the birth of my child. I only have 1-2 fingers separation but I really want to close it. I wonder if I will ever be able to do regular ab workouts again

  • Omg thanks I really need to see this and know I can still do these even though I had my child 2 years ago in March

  • Hmmmm.... nice! Good Job!

  • Useful video. My "mound" showed up a few years back and I had no idea what it was.... didn't know it had a name. HA. Now I have some tools to see if I can do something about it.
