  • @TheWierdFish And more than ANY country, are those resistance fighters and pow's of all occupied countries who aided, sabotaged, and relayed Intel that deserve the most credit as they had the most on the line.

  • @TheWierdFish and for which country is superior in helping save the war, well it took all of them to succeed. Britain had nothing w/o the constant US shipments of goods and arms prior to her involvement. Her overseas holdings were falling daily into enemy hands. North Africa seemed to be the only place things were going somewhat in your favor. I will give you to you the fact that we did not enter to gallantly save the world. The Japs simply poked the wrong sleeping bear.

  • @TheWierdFish The Spits and Hurricanes were wooden machines built of necessity. Whats impressive is that Britain maintained airspace with a wooden air force vs an early Nazi super machine. I'd have to say though, the kudos go to the engineers. Not the plane. While US designers sat in cozy midwest america with all the time in the world, the brits worked day and night dodging bombs and still maintained an adequate air force. That makes the men and women who made them superior.

  • @TheWierdFish Not because I feel its the American thing to say. The Mustang was a serious performance and gun platform. You mentioned the Typhoon. A BEAUTIFUL aircraft. But impractical in aerial combat unless used against slower, easier targets like bombers or ground attack roles. 4x20 mm cannons vs 8x50 cals produce much less spread in a firing pattern and shell size can limit magazine size. But back to the Spit vs Mustang bit. What the Brits have going for them is resilience.

  • @TheWierdFish Britain did not stop any type of advance. Geography stopped the German advance. I.E. the English Channel. If I remember correctly, the fallback at Dunkirk was a full on retreat. Not an organized holding of the line. Had Hitler not been an ass and declare war on the US after Pearl and concentrated his efforts in Russia, I confidently believe Great Britain would have fallen. As for the aircraft, the mustang, despite a few early flaws, was superior to the Spit.

  • @MegaBartSmart Merlins, as used in Mustangs, Spitfires, Mosquitos, Lancasters and PT Boats.

  • get rid of the crap music on the vid and let the old girl sing for self :)

  • I'd rather fight in a P47, as they are less vulnerable to an attackers gun fire. 51's have radiators and coolant hoses, Thunderbolts do not. Besides, round engines sound better.

  • This video ALWAYS perks me up when I'm feeling bummed out... :D

  • Is there anyone else that heard this soundtrack in Roma Surrectum 2 for Rome Total War? ^^
