Sociability tests, as the one seen here, gauge a mouses preference toward spending time with sniffing another mouse versus spending more time sniffing an empty cage. Normally, a mouse should prefer to spend more time with the fellow mouse. Spending more time sniffing an empty cage is considered abnormal.
