Say It Aint So, You Aint Seen Nothing Yet... am I talking about Weezer? No. Am I talking about Bachman-Turner Overdrive (BTO)? No. Well, I mean, I do mention them, so I guess in a way I am... what about Twisted Sister? Yes, I do mention them. Why? What am I talking about? I aint telling, youre going to have to watch this video to find out!
OK, OK! Quit twisting my arm... Ill tell you anyway. I am talking about the word aint. First let me drop a couple of links to my other videos about Words & Grammar. (What am I thinking doing a series on words & grammar? Am I trying to not get any viewers and subscribers?)

So, there you have it, recommended viewing material. As for aint. I can understand why it isnt accepted in the sense that it is a false contraction. What is it short for ai not? Doesnt really make much sense... but then, I wonder about the contraction wont. What is that short for wo not? It might make more sense if it was whoa not. It isnt. So, as long as we are allowing contractions that dont make much sense, it starts to make the case for aint. Furthermore, we have words like Meh which have not been around that long being readily added to the dictionary.
So, here we are. I aint no big fan of the word aint... but it has been around for over 200 years. The dictionaries generally list it as not proper or not accepted even indicative of ignorance. This poor word is the victim of social abuse. Why is it associated with the poor? The uneducated? Despite our wordism against this word, it is time to go ahead an accept that it is a part of our language, and isnt going anywhere. If nothing else, it deserves to be accepted simply for the phrases: Say it aint so and You aint seen nothing yet! Can you imagine. Say it isnt so? Or You havent seen anything yet. The phrases lose their power and their impact without the word aint. As for Twisted Sister, why did I mention them? I wanted to point out that they too are guilty of not giving aint any respect. Were Not Gonna Take It! was a hit song in the 1980s from Twisted Sister. If they had proper respect it would have been We Aint Gonna Take It!
As always, Thanks for reading. Read all you want, Ill write more.

Yes, I looked it up and found "Bachman Turner Overdrive" when I was writing my description. Funny how I always do my research AFTER I make the video. Oh well.
