From someone who was there, upper balcony stage right, able to see monitor guy, Gibby's interaction. There was NO PUNCH thrown. Gibby fake threw a bottle & beer splashed people/equipment. He acted like he was going to throw a punch, but there was no punch thrown. This was confirmed by Paul on the BHS Forum.
You can see Gibby "fake throw" a bottle in the produced Dust Devil music video '93. It's exactly the same he did at Webster Hall.
The bottle never left his hand and a punch was not thrown.

The riot was more than just beer cups being thrown. Security was picking fistfights with people left and right, equipment got toppled at one point, and a guy who jumped onto the stage got beaten badly

gibbie punched out the sound guy.. and the riot was plastic beer cups thrown at the stage... I thought the real riot would be while I was smoking through the whole show.. and in washing square park if you had a bear on you.
