Dave Clark was three things:
1) The best BUSINESS man of all the 1960's group leaders.
2) A Paul McCartney level of good looks, and
3: A horrid drummer.
The success of the Dave Clark 5 was 75% Mike Smith, 25% Dave Clark's business sense.

@edwinf9999 Mike Smith (lead singer) didn't need a mike at all - he was one!

Amazing how powerful those mikes are, they can be so far away from them,.

The record, "Louie Louie" was almost banned in the 1960's because of complaints that some of the lyrics were WAY too filthy. But the censors listened to it very carefully and finally decided that they couldn't really distinguish exactly WHAT all of the words the Kingsmen were singing... There was even talk about banning "Glad all over" from the radio waves because glad all over could have meant being glad ALL OVER including.. (well, you know where.. Ha-ha..) I'm glad all over that they didn't!
