John Hickman First ever competition. Adult Welterweight Novice. NAGA May 22nd 2010

This was my first ever match. All of my training has come from DVD's, and videos on Submissions101, and I attended one Eddie Bravo seminar. I'm in the black 10thPlanet rash guard, by the way.

@desireenicoledavis We went the full 4 mins. When you go the distance, it's based upon points. He earned 2 points for the takedown, which I gave to him. Another point for his submission attempt. I earned a point for my submission attempt, 2 for the sweep, another for the arm triangle attempt, and 2 for the mount. At the end when he reversed me, he didn't get any points for that. That's a reversal, not a sweep, hence no point. Hope this helps.

@annlovestexas haha no, fucker. I was thinking about the old school sweep, or the electric chair. The electric chair sweep is the one I ended up getting.

@KillAll187 Quest from a noob here.. Is it considered a sweep if you fx do a hip-om from guard.. I am surprised to learn that the reversal from mount-bottom didn't give two points..

First match ever in a tournament and a big tournament at that! Awesome man. Good job on all the crafty moves. You should try the overhook with your left arm in the lockdown; gives you more control than just an arm over his back.
