(frowns) Are you saying old goats like myself can't do 50 miles on foot any more? Well, not with a field pack, that's for damn' sure. True, these old coots were hurting for lack of chow, but they'd already covered a lot of ground from Ulundi
Actually, CINTERPOL might have been nearer the mark the first time round. The Zulus at Rorke's Drift were mostly reservists in their 30s and 40s who hadn't had a decent meal in days. They were keen enough and no one can doubt their courage, but their days of breakneck yomps across the veldt were pretty much over.
How brave to stand & face a vastly superior force, knowing they had massacred the column at Isandlhwana. All the Rorkes Drift defenders had were bags of beans for defence , single shot rifles & bayonets. The Zulus were feared warriors, it must have taken a lot of courage.
the zulus wiped out 5 columns (regiments) with spears and shields not even the ancient romans could have done that the zulus were able to run 6 miles and still fight a battle at the end each man proved his skill before joining the army the zulus are mighty people and the english conquered the word with intelligence tact and unrelenting desire for victory both people are equal and worthy of praise by all men
