This is my 1929 Wm Knabe &Co, Ampico model B reproducing piano playing the Charleston. The roll is not an ampico roll but a Seeburg Roll.

  • Is this a Nickelodeon roll? Or did Seeburg make home piano rolls as well?

  • @1947Desoto This is a Seeburg XP Nickelodeon roll.

  • Wonderful!! I love the peppy old rolls. Please keep them rolling and please post more of them.

  • Playing this in a room without sound absorbers all over (e.g. curtains, carpet, etc.) gave this a really cool acoustical quality.....magnifying and enhacing rather deadening the sound coming off the keys. A great job and I hope you can do more exactly like this!!! Gosh I am so envious after listening to this I could scream.

  • Having this as a video, and not just the [wonderful!] sound, is a tremendous addition: seeing the keys in action somehow makes the experience way more fun. A beautiful piano in great condition, and a great roll. Thanks!

  • wow!

  • Best player piano version of this son I've heard.

  • Not only similar, but it actually is played as if the composer[or at least the gentleman who cut the roll] played the very piano.:)

  • Ever time I listen to this video and recording I love it more. Please post more of this lovely piano for us to enjoy. Thanks again!!!

  • Beautiful piano and amazing roll! I've never heard a non-Ampico roll sound so great on an Ampico piano! And the quality of this James P. Johnson QRS "handplayed" roll seems far better than ordinary QRS rolls. I'm a collector also (Ampico and Duo-Art). Thanks for posting - it's in my favorites.
