AvP:R had the blood and the gore, but little to no story and had no connection to the first film aside from the beginning/opening scenes and the "Predalien". The movie properly delivered what these two breeds are about: breeding, hunting, rampage, and total destruction. More of a story would have made this film that of an epic film and one hell of a sequel. I wouldn't mind a third movie if it learns from the last 2. These films are no where near as bad as people make them out to be.

According to AVP-GALAXY (online fan forum dedicated to all things ALIEN/PREDATOR) the Strauss Brothers had shot the film as per the trailer. But 20th Century Fox "blackened" the hell out of the print toning down the colours, contrast and lighting- making the master print look like a crappy VHS pirate video recorder copy.

I think the film looks like a cheap B-Movie anyways so the trick was the cover up a shit film.

It's the same for both movies... the Predator's a murdering d-bag until he gets overrun and needs our help to kill Aliens...

The problem I have with this film is that it's a prime example of exploitation/schlock film done wrong. Exploitation and schlock films do have value, because they often are at very least entertaining, and occasionally provide intentional or unintentional social commentary. (Cannibal Holocaust, I Spit on Your Grave, etc.) This film's just an ugly, distasteful, disrespectful heap of cheap gore and elements clearly thrown in only to upset the viewer, meaning it fails to even be entertaining.

He has a point. It's disgusting and repulsive strictly for the sake of being disgusting and repulsive. If it was disgusting and repulsive, but had a clear narrative focus and gave the violence meaning and impact, it would have been fine. But as it is, the film is a collection of cheap, purposely distasteful, exploitive gore effects meant only to upset the viewer. There's no art to it, so the disgusting side is more bothersome because it feels like the directors have no basic decency or respect.

The half-alien, half-predator ("Predalien") is the main creature in the film, and it fights the predator and spawns other aliens.

I enjoyed the first one regardful of the fact that many hated it but this second film was really bad, i think it tried too hard to be violence/horror oriented resulting in a friday the 13th kind of movie with teenage kids getting slashed all through it, i also thought the illumination of the film was too dark (in some scenes you can hardly tell what's going on) and i'm not the only one to have moaned about this.

That trailer is bad... gives away all the action. Personally i found the movie to be very good, don't know what all the bitchin' is about.
