@kdoggjazz That's exactly what I was thinking. The narrator keeps talking history, but our current leadership is doing everything possible to throw history aside and centralize power in Kirkwood. I left the Roman church - I do not want to go back to a system like that.
Also, narrator, I hope your (sainted, I presume) grandfather would have jumped in to correct you immediately if he heard you say "his first convert." Not his - the Holy Spirit's. Lutheran Theology 101.

To add to my answer, St. Peter absolutely would've known what Divine Service is as it dates back to the old testament.

Of course I would, because our Lutheran Doctrine comes straight from the apostles.

kdogg, I have a question: Jesus and his apostles were not Lutheran, right? If time were not an issue and you had the opportunity to attend a worship service officiated by the Apostle Peter, would you take communion with/from Him? Would you engage in public, corporate worship and prayer with him? Even if he had never heard of divine service or aware of the liturgy you attribute to the apostles?

Interesting to note that the narrator states that the church we are becoming is what our grandfathers dreamed of, yet Kieschnick has stated that his vision of LCMS is NOT our grandfather's church. It is too bad that these band of dissenters that folow Kieschnick are taking what our grandfathers have built and throwing them out of the church to include, traditional, liturgical church practices that are tied directly to our theology that has been passed down from the apostles.

I hope you won't regard this as quibbling, but I think it possibly misleading to say that people should think of Jesus as "friend," if by this we think it suggests a peer, or intimate. The greatest example of faith that the Lord spoke of was the centurion who said "I am unworthy to have you come under my roof, but say the word and my servant will be healed..." He had confidence in the Lord's authority, not in His intimacy. This Biblical example is contrary to much American piety.

@FrZeile Not at all...Our relationship with Jesus should be THE most intimate relationship we have. He is our Friend and Lord.
"I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you." John 15:15
"And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called God's friend." James 2:23

@thomaskrause1 When someone responds to your comments it puts your sign-in name at the beginning of it...just as it did with my response to you. It's a generally understood way of communicating in blogs. ChristConquers was responding to your previous positive comment. I'm sorry that it appears that way. If I can edit it I will.
