just built a paia theremax kit, made my own antennae (machined brass) and cabinet (plexiglass) and mounted it to a mic stand. Going through a 45 watt behringer keyboard amp with a built-in delay effect. For more pictures, visit www.stexeweb.com/theremin

  • So what the antennae you put in the theremax kit does? I mean what is the difference between the original antenae and that one, regardiong to the sound.

    NICE SOUND BTW !!!

  • They say that a thicker antenna will produce a steadier tone. I replaced them partially for aesthetic reasons; the theremax's antennae are barely any thicker than wire coathangers, so they look very cheap. If I were to build this over again, I'd make the antennae about 3/8" thick, like they are on the Moog Etherwave models.

  • Great sound!!! So, the delay/reverb is through the amp? Hmmm ... I really need to get myself a better amp.

  • Without the amp, it would just sound like a sine wave. It's a Behringer K450FX, three channels with built-in fixed effects. I think I paid $125 for it new.

  • What is the purpose of the 1/4" jacks on the paia kit? Do they disable the control they are plug into?

  • can i buy it off you PLEASE???

  • I'm building the same one, only

I've got the cabinet. I hope it sounds as good as that did.

  • oh great! i will try to build one myself aswell, but probably won't even need the kit cause my father knows a lot about electronics...for me, the bigger problem will be the case and antennas. but your theremin's an awesome inspiration to that!

  • That sure is one sexy-sounding (and looking) theremin. I wouldn't be able to build one though, so I'm looking at a pre-built.

    :(

  • I DON'T GET IT?

  • Looks great, sounds great :) Sounds like it's better for sound effects and techno (at least with the delay on the amp). Nice!

  • Behringer or not the final audio result is awesome.
