The last video I did was when Oscar was 41/2. He is now in kindergarten and doing wonderfull. I wanted everyone to see how well he has progressed in just one year - its amazing and I am soooooo proud of him! He is so smart and he will NOT let apraxia get in the way of showing everyone how smart he is. I hope this gives others hope and lets them see their kids will get better, just work with your children and read read read - every day! Oscar worked very hard to get where his is today and hopefully within the next year he will be out of a special ed classroom and just get help from the resource specialists a short time each day!
I just have to tell everyone that my son has had the gretest teachers in the world. Teachers don't get enough credit for what they do for our children. They work so well with him and the improvement in him shows that.

  • He is very intelligent and a great little guy!!

  • @KidStarInterviews Thank you! :-)

  • Wow, Oscar's progressed so much, and I can see that he's a really adorable and intelligent child! I think many of these children can live great lives if there's early intervention. My ambition is to be a paediatric SLT when I grow up (well, it can't really be 'when I grow up' since I'm already 18. hehe.)

  • @cantabile91 thank you and good luck on your goal, work hard and anything is possible :-)

  • Oh goodness! He is so adorable! And so smart! Thank you for posting this video, it is truly inspiring. He must be so grateful to have a great mom like you! :)

  • @spoonerd11

Thank you! I will be posting another video soon since its been a year since the last. He is getting ready to exit special ed day class ( right now he spends 50% of class time there ) and going into general ed all day for second grade! :-) Only things he will continue to receive are resource when needed and speech.

  • Wow I'm totally amazed. What a smart kid and the progress he made is astonishing. I'm totally blown away.

  • Thank you so much for your videos. My goddaughter was diagnosised with apraxia until she turned 5. She is also doing speech therapy and making progress everyday. We have found that sign language actually tends to hold her back, it is used with her younger brother who was 15wks premature and is partially deaf and cannot speak. The rule for my goddaughter at this point is that she must also attempt to speak the word/sentence when asking for something.

  • I have to say that I watched his video from when he was 4 1/2 yrs old & when I saw this video .... I cried!! He made such amazing progress & it was so inspiring to me. My son is 4 1/2 yrs old right now & talks just like Oscar did when he was 4 1/2. He has gotten therapy since 1 1/2 yrs old, but progress is very slow with this condition. It's very frustrating because you want to make them better overnight. I would love any advice you can give as to how you made so much progress. Thanks!!

  • This is very encouraging. Great job both mom and son!

  • HI GREAT IMPROVEMENT

  • wow this is consolation to so many moms out there fretting over their child with sd. my 4 year old sounds just like your son when he was 4. but seeing ur son at 5 is amazing. he's not even supposed to spell and read so well! congratz, youre an awesome mom.

  • wow he has made amazing progress! im so happy for you both :)

  • wow this has just brought tears to my eyes! How amazing. My son is 3.2 and is just about able to say a handful of single words. Thank you for posting this - what an inspiration, it certainly gives you hope!

  • I'm a mom to a 5 year old son, also diagnosed with Apraxia of Speech. I'm so excited to see progress like Oscar's! Suuuuch a big difference in one year's time. You and his teachers have done a great job! Thanks for sharing Oscar's videos.
