Because when you lower the tessitura you sing it doesn´t mean you don´t have the higher notes, it´s just you aren´t ablet to sing in that zone anymore so you lower the key YET the belted notes are achievable. check her performance of hero in 2001, the high notes are there, still she sung in a lower tessitura than the original song. :)

@rendition888 Actually during daydream era she sung songs either in the same key or in a higher one, she even had some hard time doing the lower notes. And If you didn´t know recording your voice in studio might lower or make your pitch higher by a semitone or a full note. Mariah´s always been able to sing in the same key as studio, but in 98 her voice started to get heavier and she had to lower the key when singing songs of previous albums, still she could hit the notes.

@Lionsmusic Whitney didn't have to write, compose, produce, or be involved in making her music at all. Someone would just go up to her with a song, Mariah actually had to make the songs. She had a lot more involvement then Whitney ever did.

Mariah's voice didn't stand up well considering the amount of performing she did to that point. Her Music Box Tour was 6 dates, Daydream Tour 7 dates, Butterfly 12 dates. Her voice should've held up a little better with that few dates to that point. That's 25 concerts in 5 years. Not to keep dragging Whitney into this but she's 10 times the performer Mariah is. Whitney's first tour was 68 dates, Moment of Truth Tour 153 dates, I'm Your Baby Tonight Tour 101 dates. Then she did The Bodyguard.
