August 15, 2008 "Golden Girl" Nastia Liukin from Texas became the third U.S. gymnast to win the women's all-around title.Liukin, 18, joined Mary Lou Retton in 1984 and Carly Patterson four years ago in Athens as the only U.S. gymnasts to win the women's all-around competition. Liukin's father Valeri is the U.S. coach and won four gymnastics medals for the Soviet Union at the 1988 Games, including a silver in the men's all-around.

Shawn has accepted her medal and acknowledged Nastia being the true champ.She unlike some of you is not going to belittle or post nasty comments about Nastia shes more grown up and a better friend then that.And @rukisgymnastics I hope shawn wins too so her and Nastia can both be champions.

The true champion is and always will be Nastia Luikin.She went home with the gold medal from Beijing.This is a video about Nastia if you don't like her then stfu and go post your crap on shawns videos.I'm a fan of both women.On this day shawn wasn't at her best.She put in a solid performance but not what she usually did.Even if she had done her usual job Nastia had an above average performance that's why shes the well deserved champion.And just an fyi Shawn and Nastia are best friends.

technically America DID groom her to become the champion that she is. She trained here all her life under USA gymnastics. Even without Nastia we would still have Shawn
