Hey everyone! This is Swapnote RPG or SNRPG for short. The purpose is to re-create a D&D game using Swapnote. I obviously take no credit for D&D, just trying to integrate it into Swapnote. :D All you need is a 3DS, Swapnote, some friends, and the jpeg image here (save it and print out as many as you need):

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g293/bosshogx/SNRPG_template.jpg

Using the graph paper stationary (unlocked for 5 coins), DM's create a dungeon and fill it with monsters and treasure like normal. Commonly used symbols for doors, traps, treasures, etc will do nicely. Once complete, the DM will reveal parts of the adventure to the player as the uncover rooms via Swapnotes. Sound clips can be added to really spice up the atmosphere.

Game mechanics:
• DM creates a complete adventure ahead of time
• DM sends out note to player(s) asking what character they want to play as (fighter, wizard, etc)
• Players respond with their choice
• DM creates a new note. The first page sets the scene, the second page reveals what they've seen of the map, the third page describes the area, and the fourth page is DM notes/comments.
• Players respond with a new note. Gives them up to 4 pages of notes.
• Any combat is resolved by the DM making behind-the-screen die rolls.
• DM can create new notes by editing the note above. Edits create a new note that the DM can send out and categorize for later.
• This continues until the adventure is over.

All combat is done by the DM and everything is based on an honor system. Sure, you could cheat, but why bother? :D

Edit 2: I created a tutorial video to help understand how SNRPG works. Find it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVWcmgN4u4Q

If you have any questions, please ask in the comments below. If you'd like to help me make the game something bigger, better, and easier to integrate, shoot me an email at bosshogx@gmail.com. Put SNRPG in the title. I'm looking for webpage design, forums, flash interactions, and so forth. You can also follow me on Twitter @MNCDover.

Thanks for watching!!

  • Lhow do u earn new play coins??? I just found out I can add recording but I need 15 play coins and I only hav 3. Help!

  • @saadat504 You have to walk -_-. FAIL.

  • @supermariolego878 Well, you don't technically HAVE to walk. As long as you are moving the 3DS around while closed, it will count the movement as steps. It's just easier to carry you system around with you. Even on a day I don't get out much, I can easily get 400-700 steps in.

  • @saadat504 Turn your 3DS on, close the system, and carry it around with you. The system will record the number of steps you take, which can be seen at the top middle of the main menu. Every 100 steps equals one coin. You can earn up to 10 coins in one day. So, bring that 3DS with you everywhere you go!

  • here do i buy the stationary I cant find it?

  • @sitruc3000 You have to keep writing notes until the option to purchase new stationary becomes available. The graph paper is 5 coins and is located on the top row, 5th from the upper left corner.

  • did urs cam with spotpass activated my didnt nd I need code

  • @tatecheddar actually, it's quite fun even considering the limitations. I've got a game going right now that is hilarious. I might compile it and upload it when we finish.

  • Great idea. Too convoluted to be fun I would think.
