Review from the RYM member 'antonbildern''
''Outstanding album! Probably in every city over the United States of America there's an obscure band like Chrysalis, ready to be rediscovered by all lovers of lost treasures...like me, for instance.
The songwriting is superb and each song has a world of its own. "Lacewing", "Lake Hope" and "Summer in Your Savage Eyes", those three songs are forgotten masterpieces of the decade, offering a transcendency that wasn't common in every band at the time. Surely some tracks on the album (especially the guitar-driven "Father's Getting Old" - listen to the wonderful psychedelic vibrato of the guitar!) are more attached to the sixties feeling and "Dr. Root's Garden" seems to be largely influenced by Zappa & Beefheart (and the only track that played on the radio), but as a whole the album is gorgeously individual and imaginative. The male vocals, criticized here by some RYMers, are just incredible and perfectly adjusted to the songs, personally I don't find it especially amateur. The femaler singer is properly contrastive and fresh as many at the time, and the band is sometimes sounding like a mixture of Insect Trust and a milder Jefferson Airplane.
In a word, recommended. Surely in the Top-50 of the decade.''
