Well, there are two items you mustn't miss.
Mind Ring and Undead Ring. YOU DO NOT want to miss these. Undead Ring on Guy (highest AT power, and Gades is weak towards holy attacks, which is one of the effects of the ring, other being protection against ID attacks) and Mind Ring to Selan.
Mind Ring gives ou the IP "Stronger" which is used to heal after every attack from Gades. After that, it's kind of random. But good luck man!
Oh, both rings are gotten from Treasure Shrine!

Yes to the first only if I feel like doing off-screen power leveling and yes to the second if I can remember how to do it (probably not). 0_o
