i know this video is old, but running a BOV vented to atmosphere can actually mess with the idle a bit. unless your running a MAF after the BOV. it will throw the ECU off bc its releasing air that the MAF has accounted for. so in term is running rich.
holsetdsm91 is right bout possible problems. the "tick' can also be your fuel injectors or fuel rail. Also there is an ISC motor on your throttle body that controlls air flow. If this goes out, there is no code for it so just replace it. It s alot cheaper than a throttle position sensor. I got a 91 eagle talon tsi and have completely rebuilt it.
well for one i own a dsmshop! the tick is a lifter tick! it does nothing to your car just annoying! to get rid of it throw in some 3g "revised" lifters! and the idling issue is because of the throttle position sensor is going out! those are 2 huge problems that always go out in dsm's i get them in my shop all the time! and why it bogs down when you pull the plug! thats the mass airflow and when you unplug it it reads nothing and runs rick on air! i would reccomend running the stock bov!
Dude you need a set of automatic tickers upper engine part, new seals and you need to change the condensors in the computer box ( on the motherboard ) thats the reason for Idle fluctuation -- add ecu settings stock and get a better second hand ilde regulator -- that should do it ( by the sound of the engine this old horse had a tough life ) -- Eclipse 94 Gs owner myself
@otisforeal Yep thats called lifter tick add some lucas from auto part would do the job, but thats not the cause of the rough idling definitely your problem its the head gasket. And i guaranteed it 100% mines use to idle the same way and even made that tick too lol thats why im familiar. for the tick (lucas) for the rough idling (head gasket), anyways do a compression test, or easier open your water&coolant cap start engine wait a few sec and acel if waters jumps up (HG) definitely..
