On Tuesday, July 26, 2011, CSI staff members Joann Podkul and Kevin Murphy resumed their work on the Avenue G-Avenue J segment of the Lake Front Bicycle Trail, removing invasive Japanese Knotweed plants from the the garden that the Chicago Department of Transportation has installed along that new segment of the bicycle trail. Invasive species threatening that stretch include Japanese Knotweed, Scottish Broom, and Garlic Mustard. These two CSI staffers have accepted the responsibility of maintaining that stretch of the trail.
