they do take longer, but the shave is better. You can't beat a multi-blade razor when you need a fast shave and if you don't want to worry about learning proper angle and pressure. Carts are too expensive. You'll do about 3 passes with a safety razor, but the lack of ingrown hairs and irritation is worth it. Each to their own.

Multi blade razors are superior, for people who don't want to learn how to use a DE/safety razor. The design of multi-blade razors makes it so you naver have to worry about blade angle, not do you have to worry about excessvie pressure. I'm sorry Sr, but I'll never go back to a multi-blade razor, I had too many ingrown hairs and irritation. I'll stick with my straight razors and safety razors.

it's great to see someone with that passion for the barbers, but there is two points i'd like to make, one, the top of the pole there was often had a brass tip to represent the vessel, as well as show the side of the pole to hold, second, I have spent years practicing the art of shaving and every person i have shaved has told me it's the closest shave they have had, it is done by good prep and a STRAIGHT RAZOR, if used propery these are with out a shadow of a doubt the closest shave

My dad complains there is no barber shops in America. He travels cross country in his RV and can't find a barber shop. Thank you for restoring the barber shop.

Very amazaing shop how long has it taken you to get all that? I collect old barbering things too. My thing is i want to use them to go back to a simpler time. Thank you for this educational and informative video.

i've been to his shop and had the shave. what i think is missing here is that after a shave, the cartridge is thrown away. a one use system and the best shave i've ever had. i think a lot of people here are being a bit silly. if you want to use an antiquated tool for shaving, then go ahead. you use your feather quill to write a letter, i'll use a pen.

Mr. Gill - I had the pleasure of visiting your Fulton St. shop back in May '09. I was in town for my birthday, and I brought the guys in the group in for shaves. It was an incredible experience. I met your lovely wife and Miss Norma Jean gave me the finest shave (even superior to Drucker's Barber Shop in Beverly Hills).
I'm returning to NOLA nexr month and will avail myself of another great shave at Aidan Gill. Thanks for saving the barber shop!!!
