This is the 6pm close for the NBC affiliate in Buffalo, owned by Gannett, WGRZ. They are currently being outfitted with a new set so this is their temporary set for the next few days. Recorded on January 11, 2011.

I like how they cannot pan the camera out at the end so instead they got video of a random deer and played that... too funny.

  • Jeez, so unproud to be owned by Gannett, "Multimedia Entertainment". Come on, the licensing and naming shouldn't be that indirect.

  • @hkfreak If you look, a lot of the Gannett stations have their own subsidiary names... I don't really know why though, it's strange if you ask me.

  • That is actually normal for the 6pm show where they always show video of random things at the end. They normally do pan the camera out but due to space with the temporary set, its almost impossible to do that.

WGRZ's facebook page has some video of the new set while its being built. None of the old set is being reused.

  • @tommyboy6181 Oh really? My bad then haha. I have only watched the 6pm show a couple of times and just assumed it didn't usually do that. I have to literally put my hand on the antenna in order to get a signal so it's a hassle to watch, but when I do have patience, I record it.

  • I Typed in "dihfgrz" and I Got This....

  • @hkfreak They with all the Gannett stations now show the "Gannett- It's all within reach" tagline at the end of all newscasts, except the morning updates. That music sounds similar to the Deathstar music used in the past actually.

  • @hkfreak "Multimedia Entertainment" - and the "Pacific and Southern Company" - are merely shell companies that are listed for license purposes. Both companies ceased to exist decades ago; Multimedia in 1997, and P&S in the early 1980s.

Until recently, some stations in The Fox Television Station Group sported a "New World Communications of (insert city/state here), Inc" at the end of their newscast. They were all owned by New World before switching affiliations to - and being purchased by - Fox.

  • The new set debuted this morning and it is radically different compared to the other HD Gannett sets. There is a lot blue in the color scheme, a steel/wood/glass desk with flat panel screen and blue lighting, wood finishes, and background graphics of several local landmarks. I think the look is a cross between WTAE (desk), WUSA (background), and First Coast News (landmarks).

It seeresembles a top 10 market with the new look and is great in widescreen.

  • @radiodj1520 You would be correct- it was Tuesday 1/11/11.

  • I Believe This Was A Video Clip Of WGRZ-TV's Channel 2 News At 6 Video Close From Tuesday Evening, January 11, 2011.

  • The new WGRZ set debuts Monday 1/17/11 during Daybreak, which is their 5-7am newscast.
