As a result many of us grow up hating ourselves...obsessed with running away from the sun and perming our hair. The racism in places such as Domincan Republic and Cuba is twice as worse as America, so Sammy Sosa is just one of many :-/...Latin America isn't the only country...India is notorious for its Fair-N-Lovely creams...is type it in you'll see tons of blatantly racist commercial selling the idea that lighter is better, its disgusting.

Hey. I am Dominican and we have a LONG history of self-hating/self-esteem issues. I am half Dominican and half Hatian with my mother's side being from Spain and my father's side being Hatian and White.
I look pretty much black and I've seen (a lot) of Dominicans darker than me tell me they are not black. These issues are really deep-rooted and I just gave up because it seems like Dominicans don't want to change their way of thinking. They laughit off/deny it most of the time I bring it up.
