Try the Boafeng UV-R3

@jmy102882 yes the Wouxun, Baofeng, etc radios will communicate with FRS/GMRS, but remember its technically illegal to do so. If you want the basic legalities you can look them up or send me a message.

i have this same radio, and for some reason i cant program in the GMRS/FRS frequencies or anything in the 400-475 range as the manual says, i know i messed up someware, and i cant seem to find any settings in the radio to use that frequency set @_@ please help, also, nic video, and these little radios are great

@darynsax There is nothing better in this price range at all, not even at twice the price. Get one and you will love it.

@jmy102882 Not unless modded to transmit out of range. Those frequencies are gmrs only and not part of the normal operating range of transmit on the Wouxan. However, after modding it can transmit on them but the tones are different so I believe it will only work in the simplex mode.

Which is best: wouxun uvd 1p or Midland CT-790
wouxun uvd 1p only costs about 90 USD on ebay! :)
Midland CT-790 really costs 300 USD! : (
Both have the same frequensy range, talk range and software. Everything looks quite the same the only difference I see is the price.
I myself have a wouxun uvd 1p with free shoulder mic, usb cable and software do I buyed it on ebay for only 105 USD! :)
And I'm quite pleased with it!
So I would suggest the (WOUXUN UVD 1p)
do you do this with the standard Wouxan programming software? If so how?

I have a question, I use basic FRS/GMRS radios that are readily available at most sporting good stores. I've been looking into the Wouxun, but have little idea if it will do what I need. The main concer is the ability to pick up FRS/GMRS freqs which are 462.5625MHz to 462.725MHz and see the Wouxuns listed 400-470MHz...would those Wouxuns work with basic FRS/GMRS freqs?

@jmy102882 Well this afternoon i typed the 462.5615 into my radio and it sat there no issues and could tx so seems to be ok. The radio indeed works normal 400-470mhz so the frequency should indeed be ok

Been looking for a cheap dual bander and really tempted to get one of these, they seem to have nothing but good reports. What do you think Simon is there better cheap imports or should I stick to one of these sets. They seem to have everything I need and seem to be a really sturdy set.

@darynsax dont think there is anything better cheaper? All people seem to love Wouxun
