  • FABULOUS performance.....seen in Paris on eb 18th. wish there was a video of the whole show.

  • Sondheim always intended it to be played by an a non-singing actress. Originally it was Glynis Johns, who had a very small voice and could only sing very short phrases - that's why Send in the Clowns is written the way it is.

  • Why is it that Desiree is always a great actress "d'une certaine age" who CAN'T sing?! The clip did look lovely, tho -wish I'd been there

  • Indeed a great operatic and ambitious production, although it doesn't really show in this clip. Sondheim said it was the best he saw. He was happy with the full orchestra of 50 musicians (8 musicians only in NY). Singers were great, especially the quintet and secondary roles. Director Lee Blakely did a great and spectacular job. But Greta Scacchi massacred Send in the clowns, she's no singer. A great cultural event warmly received. Sondheim came on stage, applauded the cast and got an ovation.

  • Lovely direction - so much better than the dreadful current New York production with the wooden Catherine Z-J, altho the NY chorus, Fredreicka and Angela Lansbury sort of redeem it.

  • YUCKYYY
