Wow, Detroit has a really high drop out rate? Hmm let's try to learn why...Union Labor stifles economic growth....Democrat governor. Two layers of bureaucracy to deal with when locating a business in that area. Why bother, when there are other states down south that are "right to work" states with no unions. So, typical gov't response is to throw more money at the problem and never get a solution. Vote Democrat and continue the misery for all.
For all of you guys making rude comments about city year and if they actually need the money, go read the description. It says "Learn what a $250k Pepsi Refresh Project would look like" Does it say they are actually running for the chance to obtain the $250k??? Its just showing an example to teh ones who are actually running for the $250k grant for there cause.
there are better needs for the 250k u ugly retarded dicksucking tramp, dont go begging for more, and seeing ur video, u are doing it well with the 250k so fackoff
I should have clarified. I think this program is awesome and a move in the right direction. But, when you start with a school system with a 25% graduation rate, there is something inherently wrong. It's not always about money either. Inner city school systems spend roughly 50% more per student than the suburban kids, yet graduation rates are markedly different. I've unfortunately seen first hand the criticism towards smart students for "being too white" or some other nonsense. It's sad.
I totally disagree with your comment. I have been part of this program for 2 years going on my third as a CHAB memeber, City Heroes Advisory Board. I am in the saturday leadership portion and can honestly tell you that it has helped me overcome my fear of public speaking, helped me focus more in school and meet different people from different parts of tthe city. I has also helped me open my eyes to what the word truely brings. And they do need money so they can continue on with this program.
