Odin's Court performs Beethoven's 9th Symphony, 4th Movement aka "Ode to Joy". From the DVD "...Court is Now in Session". This DVD is available for purchase on Odin's Court's website. www.OdinsCourtBand.Com For an audio/studio version, it appears on the album DEATHANITY, available through most online retailers, iTunes, Amazon, Minddawn, etc.

Please keep comments constructive. Viciously negative comments will be deleted.

In reading people's comments, it's also obvious that many people who think they know "Ode to Joy" really don't. Beethoven's Ninth Symphony had more than 1 melody, and more than 1 movement. People who think the tempo is wrong or don't think this sounds like the piece clearly need to revisit the full, traditional orchestral version and reacquaint themselves with the classic. While it is obviously arranged for a 5-piece rock band, every theme in the piece is taken from the original. :)

  • very nice job!!! thumbs up :D

did you make any other classical metal covers??

  • @Odiin666: Not that have been released, though the background music to one of the menus on our DVD is Rick playing Bach. I (Matt, vocals & guitar) have recorded some Back, Mozart, and others in my home studio in the past for fun. I hope to have the band do more "classical metal covers" in the future.

  • since i saw one of the band members posted here, just wanted to congratulate u. very nice to pay homage like that. whatever music u like, things are just what they are. and beethoven is God

  • Thanks! :)

  • beethoven would be proud

  • @arandomperson240: We only have this live version from our DVD up here. We are an independent band that self finances everything we do, so believe it or not, "a nickel" would be nice. So if you like the music, please, support our cause and buy the CD, mp3s, DVD, or whatever else you're willing to do. :)

  • heh! heh! heh! it was weird at first but i've never seen Beethoven done in this light. it was nice and somehow refreshing. can't stop grinning, guess that's the effect of the song.

  • I'm an old dog, I must admit, so I have had plenty of exposure to passionate music.

It's not rebellious, it is a natural that the marriage of metal and classical music should go together because the passion alone drives the unity.

For God's sake, release more of this f*cking music.
